Mishou Sanchez is a Tampa native with over 20 years of experience in design, construction and art. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from Ringling College of Art and Design and a Master’s Degree in Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture. She has been a 2-time Guggenheim Grant finalist, developed a life-saving permaculture system for refugees in Darfur, Sudan, and has done design work in the homes of Michael Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, and Cindy Crawford. She is the designer of Tampa Mercado, a retail complex for small business incubators using shipping containers. She is an active artist with international clients and collectors from around the world.

While living in California, Mishou was also the Creative Director and Production Manager for one of LA’s top contemporary Pop Art fabrication studios,  Pretty In Plastic. For 2+ years she was responsible for designing and executing high-profile industry projects from start to finish. These projects went to museums, galleries and blue chip art collectors. She was responsible for developing the design and fabrication plan, calculating costs and timelines, and assembling and managing the team. In this capacity, she further developed her working knowledge and expertise in previously unexplored areas such as sculpture and materials.

She is currently heading up Studio Mishou, designing commercial and residential projects, fabricating art and working with rockstar professionals to execute designs.

As someone who truly believes in the importance of art and community and spotlighting the work of both established and emerging artists in an intimate and free-spirited setting, Mishou has occasionally converted her beautiful home into a pop-up art gallery, The Modern Bohemian. She continues to live, work and create in this unique space, often surrounded by friends, family, and fellow creatives.
